.... thats what many of the slam book entries, by friends at school, reads. The slam book that i made everyone fill, during our last few days at school...
School has such a charm to it; a child-like innocence abounds, an innocence and a freeness that i realized i had long forgotten; that i seem to have re-learnt today..Thanks to the food fest organized at my school today.
I had visited school quite a few times in the last few months, but everytime it was after school hours, when the school is all empty. For today however, i had decided to visit and be a part of the food fest. And so i reached school at 11-o-clock. And lo... the scene looked like that of a fete! It all seemed grand and complete with swings, food stalls(set up house-wise), game stalls (set up and managed class wise), a baby show going on on the stage, and along with all this, songs being played and dedicated on requests from those present there. There was a DJ floor set up in the audi, while the enclosed green area in front of it had a variety of innovative and interesting art works on display, made by children of junior classes.
I had started by taking a round around the school, observing everything my eyes could possibly take in. Once in the school ground, i met all my teachers one after the other. I was pretty ashamed that i dint remember most of them by their names. But surely i remembered all of them by the lil incidents and the lil things i learnt from them. Like how My Hindi teacher, in class Xth., couldn’t believe that i could write some hi-fi Hindi dialogues for a patriotic play, in spite of having a track record of awful Hindi papers...:) It was, however, bcs of her teaching itself that i could write those lines for a play, which won us the first prize..! i loved meeting all my teachers. Each one of them had this look of contentedness which was a treat for my eyes. They were handling stalls with great enthu, and were happy too on meeting ex-students they had taught. It was heartening to see ex-students, who passed out even some 10 years ago, coming on this occasion.
All the teachers i met informed me abt the registration gng on for an alumni association. So i headed for the counter they directed me to, and registered myself. I also left a suggestion for a DJ party for all our batch mates, for i miss those that we had during school days..
One thing struck me hard.. there was not a single soul from my batch, whom i could spot during the one and a half hours i spent there. In spite of the fact that many of them knew abt this event. Goes to show how busy we can get in building our lives both for the short term and long term. Or probably there are some other reasons for not grabbing such opportunities to re-live the beautiful school times.. reasons that i cant see..
Everything seemed just the same as before.. and looking at all the display boards at various parts of the school building was enjoyable too. All those bold captions, strong messages conveyed thru crisp writings and other displays, interesting decorations, announcements for various competitions... everything rang a bell.. of how happening school life always was...:) and how subtly school life shapes us into what we are.. and will be...
