Bid Adieu - Last Days at College...

Hmmmm... 4 years is quite a time BUT dunno when n where it passed... I still remember the day I came with my dad to discover that this college of mine is merely a small 'house like building' amidst 'Bijwasan de Khet'... Was thinking of migrating to some other college as it was hard to swallow that my 'college life' is gonna be this... I started n very soon almost fell in love with this chhota sa campus of ours... Loved every single bit of time spent here, be those 'RAW - SMACKDOWN' fights... those cricket matches on 'college ki chhat'... that "Canteen Open Area-cum-Football Ground-cum-Cricket Pitch-cum-Basketball Court"... those hours of Dumb Charades - 'Chup @#0^I' as it was called by us... that 'Rotaract-Baazi'... n what not, Blogger wont provide enough space to cramp in all... :(

SWOOOSHHHHH !!!! Jus like that it passed... N now its all over... Jus had the last day at college 2day... No more daily early morning College Cribbing... No more 'Overpouring Bus No. 801' ke peeche bhaagna... Ajeeb it may seem but somehow I managed loved it all...

N we had realised it quite a few days back itself that the countdown has begun... So tried making the most outta last few days at college... I particularly tried spending time with every1 I knew in college... Like staying till late in college even having the wierdest of them to accompany... But I loved them too... :-) ... Attending college regularly though it was never required to do so, coming to colg even on Saturdays... Huh!!! That I know was being quite desperate... Talking to classmates whom I never used know even by names... Being frnds with a few good ppl whom i neva noticed in clg n who eventually became vry good frnds of mine... the last few days saw it all...

Dunno wot m writing but feel like writing everythng datz coming to my mind rite nw... Cn keep on writng the whole night... Dnt feel like droping any moment that is coming to my mind... N hey... A strange thng... last few days we used to msg evry1 in class... like... "2moro in a Blue Jeans...WHite SHrts every1..." ... "2moro every1 wid a Tie" n amazingly ppl used to follow dat dress code... n it looked AWWWSOME...

The memories have been engraved deep within the cerebrum... Were the best days of my life... Dnt feel like I hv missed on anythng here, taking as much as I cud from here... a big bunch of frnds (actually more than frnds - My R.A.W... vryyy dear to me)... That hefty amnt of experience I got with dose Rotaract Events n Amitechs (made me realize the real me from within)... Dose OK marksheets which have been fair to a student like me (havin 90s as well as Stars ;-))... Lots n lots of love I saw on mah TShrt 2day afta scribling... Gonna miss u all (xcept for a few bout whom I knw we'll alwaz be 2gether)...

As our Class T-Shrt said - 'Officially Awesome'... We actually were...I.C.E - 09 Rocked...N that too vry hard... Harder than any1 can possibly imagine !!!

Earth Hour

I'm hoping that if you are reading this, you are well acquainted with what the title stands for. Still, for the uninitiated (poor soul), it is a campaign for unifying the people all over the world for safeguarding the future of our planet earth. The aim is to address the issue of fast saturation of our non renewable resources and global warming.

This campaign was propagated by the WWF - The World Wide fund for Nature AKA World Wildlife Fund. For more about it, here is the link... VOTE EARTH !!! http://www.earthhour.org/about/

This year, this campaign was advertised all over the world for the first time, and it was a call to the citizens of earth to switch off all their lights on Saturday, 28th march, 2009, between 8:30 to 9:30 PM Local Time. WE did. And so did many people across the globe. Though there were still people who were clueless about the whole initiative. But there were certain things, I thought, need a mention..

For one the use of candles was being much discussed on radio stations and TV. Wax too is yet another non renewable resource. And what is more, such mass use of candles too is a polluting agent !!! Then why glorify its use for the "Earth Hour" ???

Second, the issue of practicality. Do you know that in cities where electricity is supplied through nuclear power, such an initiative would actually cause immense waste? If you come to think about it, the reason is simple - Nuclear power generation requires the nuclear plant to be fed with a set mass of enriched uranium, called the "critical mass". Now the capacity of the power station is decided according to demand and when there is sudden drop in demand, the whole nuclear power generated goes waste. This means that a whole lot of nuclear waste is created, and all the nuclear energy generated in the process, gets wasted.

Flip sides always seem to haunt us. But I must say the hour that I spent with my family, in complete darkness, was pretty enlightening. Spent a good time with them, while enjoying the thunderstorm, and the sound of the rain hitting hard on our windows.I voted earth. Did you??

Cares n Prayers...
-Ritu

Yeah, we too switched off (not completely though) for the hour... N I also remember the message you sent just to confirm the same... :-)

I would accept that we didn't go into complete dark mode... BUT we made sure that all of us were in the same room so that we would need just one light (that too small CFL) n weather too was on our side to cool things that day... Switched off all other things and had a good time playing cards (which we do quite often NOW)... N it was amazing to see the news next morning saying soooo soooo much of Mega Units of Electricity were saved the same day... There are quite a lot of good people there who still love our place... Glad to know :-)

God Bless Our Earth !!!

Rebonding... - A Step Towards a Makeover

Rebonding. Speak this word and you'll spark off a discussion with mixed reactions. .. (among both gals, and today's fashion conscious guys). It is a chemical process by which the texture of your hair can be changed and they become smooth and straight, irrespective of how they were before. Sounds exciting ... does it?

Well, look at d pic here, n u'll know how exciting it must be... a least for an onlooker of the chemical process. I got rebonding done, out of sheer curiosity (and one other funny reason as well..) as to what happens once one gets it done...and what makes it such a scary thing for many people.

It was a funny experience.
I sank in in one of the empty seats, in anticipation of what might they do to my hair. A protective garment was wrapped around my neck and my hair wetted and combed straight. They then squeezed out a white paste (that horrible smelling chemical!) and applied it to my hair, taking just about 100 strands at a time(dint seem more than that..). They then carefully sandwiched that set of hair with a rectangular piece of some -kinda-thick-paper. This was repeated for different sets of strands of hair, and soon enough i was looking like this:-

And as if an icing was missing. my head was finally covered with a foil paper! (An ALUMINIUM Foil!!! ) My friend, who had thankfully consented to accompany me, commented lightly that I was looking like Tantya Tope! She was having a merry time clicking pics of my sorry state...

I stayed like that for about an hour, after which all of that irritating stuff was removed from my head, and the smelly chemical washed off from my hair. My hair were then blow dried. But what came next was a lil more disconcerting.

Press. The press with which u iron your clothes. That was what my hair were subjected to, next. Only, this was an instrument designed for ironing hair only. This time about twenty strands of my hair (counted 20!) were taken at a time, and 'ironed', for about 10 minutes. There were 4 men standing on my head and doing it simultaneously - time saving tactic probably. Nevertheless, the whole ironing task took another hour in total.

My hair were shining away by the time the ordeal ended (and smelling strongly too, of the shampoo used.. nice smell that was though..). Pretty as they were looking, the customers around started expressing their surprise at the wonderful 'results' of the chemical treatment. But they did not know probably that it had been four hours of sitting and enduring something that wasn't very pleasing to any of the five senses (Barr the sense of taste; they were serving good coffee) ... I had to purchase a specific shampoo and conditioner and serum, as according to the professional's prescription, to ensure good health of my hair.
I paid the total amount (I'm not going to tell how much), smiled at their elated parting comments about my hair , ("oh the results are so good. They always are good on 'virgin hair'. Your hair are looking very pretty...." blah!) and walked out with my dear friend who kept me company the whole time; which was one great thing .. god bless her!

My hair are looking gorgeous now, especially after i got a new hair cut too and compliments have been pouring in. But this was perhaps the last experience of its kind in my life.. hopefully so.

Phew, novel though the experience was, i found it funny enough to share here..
Ill have more interesting stuff than this to share in the near future...
Till then, have fun blog world...

Rotaract 'Chandigarh - Kasauli' - 2009

What better a start to our last sem in this college could we had expected...
Our Rotaract Club's Trip to Chandigarh (Extended to Kasauli forcibly - Thank God that the force behind 'forcible extension' was strong enuffff....)

Would sum-up the whole 3-day experience in a few lines written by a friend (also an amazing companion on the trip)... He versifies our lovely trip as follows:

"A trip to a beautiful city,
with friends and friends to be...
With faces filled with excitement n glee,
did we embark on a magnificient journey...
An important junction and deserving it'd be,
in our meandering path to terminal destiny...

In the foggy dim we carved our light,
and sculpted in our minds the breathtaking sight...

We shared the truths from private shelves,
and jestfully dared to find new selves...
Every moment so joyous and lovely it was,
none shall fade as time would pass..."

Loved every arcsec of every minute soooo applaudable-ly spent... Wasn't at all a 'Yet Another Trip'... Moments engraved forever...

A lovely & endearing start to 2009...
May this New Year bring lots n lots of frolic in everyone's lives...
Keep Enjoying...

God Bless All !!!
